The 2009 Daytona 500

I had the chance to go to both Nascar races on the opening weekend of the 2009 season at the Daytona speedway. It was a great race both days, if not a little, okay, a lot wet on Sunday. Here is the flyover on Sunday.

Almost Lost My Hat

Down on the wall, you can get a real sense of the speed and power of these Sprint Cup cars. You can feel the power rumble in you bones, smell the gas and tires, and get little pelts of rubber hitting you in the face. Ain't that fun?

Saturday Night @ The Willow Tree

We had dinner at the Willow Tree in downtown Sanford. Great little German eatery with music to boot. I the weiner shitzal, it was great.

Not A Bad Way To Spend An Afternoon

I took Friday afternoon off to await the arrival of my buddy Big D. We are going to the Daytona races this weekend. But before he arrived, I had time to relax a bit on the beach on Lake Howell. It was a picture-perfect day. In mid-February mind you. This was the view from my seat in a beach chair.
