Gator On Lake Howell

I was out fishing this fine Sunday morning and look who swam up for a visit. I shot him with my 300 lens, but he or she was about 40 yards away. This is a pretty good sized gator. I didn't catch a fish, but at least I caught this shot. Along with others - see below. Double click the picture to see it bigger.

Baby Blue On The Dock

While I was shooting shots of the gator, this youngster landed by me. I think it from the nest in the tree by the dock.

Baby Blue Getting Bigger

Here is a shot of a blue herron, which I believe is one of the two babies who have been nesting in a tree by the dock.

Lake Jessup Part II

I went to another park on Lake Jessup last Sunday. I did indeed see some gators. See below.

Catching A Few Rays

This fellow was enjoying the sun. I charged him to get on his back "Croc Hunter" style. He was a fraidy-cat and swam away.

Lake Jesup Park

I went for a little hike at Lake Jesup today with my Nikon in tow. I was mainly there to see gators, but didn't get to the spot where I needed to be to see the gators. They say Jesup is the most densly gator-populated lake in Florida. But as you'll see below, I did see some other critters.

What The Heck Was That?

I was walking down the path from picture above. I heard some movement across the little water ditch. So I look over and I see something big and black sleeking along the edge of the water then deftly go up the bank and swiftly out of sight in the brush. It was so smooth and quick I couldn't make out what it was. I know this sounds crazy but the movement struck me to be like that of a cat. Maybe a black panther. And its coat was black and had kind of a crushed velvet sheen to it. There are some bear out there probably, but I don't thinks its furr would look that way, nor would a bear move so smoothly.

The picture is zoomed in on the bank where the animal was. It was only maybe 25 feet away from me when I heard then saw it briefly. You can kind make out an imprint. Who know what it was - could have been Big Foot...

Now For A Big Reptile

I saw this huge yellow python at the park. I guess it was 8 or 10 feet. We figured somebody must have put it out.
