My First NASCAR Race

My buddy invited me to attend Saturday's NASCAR race in Daytona Beach, before Sunday's 50th running of the Daytona 500. Let me first say, if you want to watch a race, the track is not the best place to see. Most of the time, I had no idea what was happening. I guess being a newbie I don't have a trained eye. But it is quite an expeirnce to behold and the TV doesn't do the speed and power of cars. When they drove past our stands you feel the engines in you chest and smell the tires. It is amazing.

Another thing that took my was just how big the track was. When they are the turns on the far side of you, the cars are just brightly colored dots. Here is a picture I took with my phone, plus a little video clip.

Go David Go

I stopped by David Ragan's fan truck and picked up a hat. David is from my hometown of Unadilla, GA. I started following racing to keep up with his career. Good luck David. That is my buddy Big D in the picture.

Perfect Morning

This Sunday morning was just perfect, so I decided to take in the weather down by the lake. Not a bad way to enjoy a mid-February morning in shorts and tee-shirt.
